Cork Bus Tracker — Last updated: April 2025
Cork Bus Tracker ("the app") is a free Android application that displays real-time Bus Éireann and TFI bus positions in Cork City using publicly available data from the National Transport Authority (NTA). This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights.
With your permission, the app reads your device's GPS location. This is used solely on-device to:
Your location is never transmitted to our servers, stored, or shared with any third party (other than Google Maps, which renders the map on your screen — see Section 3).
Preferences such as your default route, notification radius, and marker style are saved locally on your device using AsyncStorage. They are never uploaded or shared.
The app fetches real-time vehicle positions from the NTA GTFS-RT feed via a lightweight proxy server. No personal data is included in these requests — only a request for current bus positions. The NTA data is public and does not relate to individual users.
The app displays banner advertisements and optional rewarded video advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use data to serve personalised or non-personalised ads, including:
This data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy . You can opt out of personalised ads through your device's Google settings under Privacy → Ads.
Rewarded ads are entirely optional — you can continue to use the manual refresh feature without watching an ad by waiting for the automatic 60-second refresh.

We do not operate a user database. No personal data is retained on any server operated by Cork Bus Tracker. All locally stored preferences remain on your device until you uninstall the app or clear its data.
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
